With barely 5 knots of wind, the only hope of getting anywhere today lay with the asymmetrical spinnaker.

A curious shaped thing, it is at its best when the wind is coming at you sideways and just strong enough to feel on your cheeks. Today, for the time being at least, it’s earning it’s pay.

The windvane cannot keep a straight enough course to keep the sail pulling so the autopilot, affectionately known as Otto, is doing the driving.
