Days and Nights

Days and Nights

Days and Nights

Pulled on deck by a sudden increase in wind and the sound of light rain on the cabin top, I realized day had consigned night to shadows.

It is one of the things I had missed most from these latitudes. Day springs upon you like a cat and night falls like a stone. It is either one or the other and that seems to suit my rather black and white, 0 or 1, technically wired mind.

Speaking of cats, we’ve been playing cat and mouse with a pesky low that has finally realized we are on its backside. It is sulking off to Southeast ward, leaving an opening to the North and East for us. It is what we have worked for these past 4 days and as soon as the passing squalls allow, we will make haste with the main at last.

If I only had stones aboard, I would be hurling them non-stop at mouse moving away in search of other, less stubborn prey.
