From Boring to Roaring 40s

From Boring to Roaring 40s

From Boring to Roaring 40s

This is as close as I dare to bringing the iPad outside. It’s blowing hard and the gusts under the towering cumulus clouds are enough to peel varnish off the woodwork.

We are about 20 degrees up from dead downwind and going as fast as the Monitor will allow. I’ve reefed the Solent so that there is just a hanky sized scrap of sail showing but even that has us doing 8+ in the puffs.

So far so good bit it’s nerve-wracking to say the least. There is,a bit of a cross-sea running that slams us abeam. But for that, we wouldn’t be too uncomfortable all things considered.
