I baked bread yesterday while Seaburban bounded over the waves and swell at 7s and 8s, blowing 25.
We are trying to stay east of a trough and intense low forecast to develop north and west of our estimated position April 7th and 8th. To make sure that happens, I let the reins lose and gave Seaburban her head. With a single-reefed main to prevented to port and the Yankee poled out to starboard, we were going as fast as possible.
Boat chores done, I figured it was high time for some real food. Anything out of a can I consider rations and rather like the food I ate while soldiering for Canada’s airborne Special Service Forces. You eat it mostly because you have to. Fresh baked bread warm out of the oven is something else entirely.
This sandwich is the closest I’ve come to real food in a while. Fresh bread, chicken, onions, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. I debated while making it if I should take a picture or not as was not sure I had the will power it would take to leave off eating it for the picture. I realized I could make another and my will power was never put to the test.
Real food. While it lasted, it made the cabin seem like home as opposed to merely shelter.
